It works great. The stains never go away even after repeated dish washings of removable sponge. I suggest a black fabric to disguise the stains so it doesn’t look so dirty after washing.

My wife bought me this as a gift and I will admit, I was very skeptical -- I've always used a wire brush on my grill and never thought this wet leather thing would work... But it does an incredible job! It's simple and safe. It's well-made. It cleans the grill really well and it's a lot less harsh on the grill so your hardware will last a lot longer. Huge win!

My complaint would be it doesn't get into the nooks and crannies of the grill plates. There's also no place to putt it once done. You can't put it back into the bowl of water because it too heavy and the water and bowl tip over.
